Contractor’s State License – Louisiana
Louisiana requires contractors to apply for and receive a contractor’s license. If you do residential work the minimum amount is $10,000 in your business. This is most easily solved with depositing 10,000 in a bank account and bringing a copy of the bank statement into us.
It would be smart to set up an LLC to do business from and in to protect your personal assets. This would require you to deposit the funds in the name of the LLC and to secure a FID number for the LLC. Give this number to the bank.
Further it would be good to elect Sub S in order to minimize your self employment taxes.
