It is possible to make some travel also a charitable deduction. But you need some cooperation from the charitable organization. For instance, if you gave money to a not for profit choir and they needed chaperones to go with the choir, even as far as Europe. The choir could pay for yur trip to go to Europe as a chaperones and it would be deductible for the choir and you would get a deduction for money paid to the choir itself.
